WhatsApp for Android gets Media Visibility Feature and New Contacts Shortcuts

WhatsApp for Android has released a new update for its bata version (2.18.159). This new update brings a new Media visibility feature along with a new Contact shortcut. The New Media visibility makes it possible for you to hide or show WhatsApp media content in the gallery. With this feature, you can choose whether you want your photos and videos that you've received on WhatsApp to display in your gallery or for it show only on WhatsApp. By default, the Media visibility feature is enabled on the WhatsApp beta version. If however you choose to disable the feature altogether, your media files will not appear in your gallery, but you'll still be able to view them all directly within the WhatsApp. To disable the feature go through the WhatsApp Settings > Data and storage usage and then turn off the Show media in gallery optiony. Google Brings Favourites Feature to Google Photos

With Google's new mobile operating system, Android P or version 9.0, soon to arrive, we can expect to see a number of changes. One of these will be restricting apps from accessing users network activity. Currently, Android allows apps to track users network activity. YouTube Launches New Tools to Help you Manage your Viewing Time

Google's YouTube will be rolling out a series of new tools that will help users manage their video viewing time. At the Google I/O conference last week (May 8), the company introduced a number of new controls for YouTube that will enable users to set time limits on their viewing habits. Users will be able to scheduled time periods using a feature called “Take a break” that will notify them to stop watching. The “Take a break” feature can be found at the very top of YouTube’s settings and it is already being rolled out in the latest version of video-sharing mobile app. With “Take a break,” YouTube users can set a reminder to appear every 15, 30, 60, 90 or 180 minutes, at which point the video will pause for you to either dismiss the reminder and keep watching, or stop watching and close the app. But the setting is optional, and is turned off by default. Opera VPN for Android is no Longer Part of Opera

News has surfaced that Opera VPN is no longer part of Opera software, and that it was shut down last week. In January, Opera VPN app was temporarily removed from the Google Play Store which Opera explain away to be as a "the result of a misunderstanding". But the software company also noted that "Opera VPN is an app owned by SurfEasy, which is no longer part of Opera Software." SurfEasy was first launched back in 2011. Opera acquired SurfEasy in 2015, then added a VPN to its desktop browser the following April, and the Android app became available in August 2016. Now it looks like SurfEasy has left Opera and has taken its mobile VPN business along with it.
