Chinese telecoms giant Huawei said that revenue for 2018 topped $100bn despite US-led campaign against its business. According to the Shenzhen-based firm, Huawei last year's revenue hit 721.2bn yuan ($107bn), while net profit jumped 25% to 59.3bn yuan. The company said that global revenue surged 19.5% in 2018, its fastest pace of growth in two years. The result was supported by strong sales of smartphones in China. At the same time its carrier business, which sells telecoms infrastructure to countries around the world, eased 1.3%. Huawei have had to deal with a lot of issues since last year that threatened its business. The tech company have been accused of having ties to the Beijing government which raised concerns over the security of its products. According to a report from Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerians have spent a whooping N767.23bn in just 3 Months, between November 2018 and January 2019. That's amazing considering the situation in the country. According to the NCC report there are 168.73 million active GSM subscribers on MTN, Globacom, Airtel and 9mobile networks in Nigeria in November 2018, but the number increased to 172.63 million in December and then 173.63 million in January 2019. The industry’s Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) provided by network operators which helped determined the estimate of airtime purchase in the country showed that consumers spent N1490.22 per month. Going by this estimate, Nigerians spent N251.44 billion on airtime in November, but that number rose by 2 per cent to reach N256.
