Opera VPN for Android is no Longer Part of Opera

News has surfaced that Opera VPN is no longer part of Opera software, and that it was shut down last week.

In January, Opera VPN app was temporarily removed from the Google Play Store which Opera explain away to be as a "the result of a misunderstanding". But the software company also noted that "Opera VPN is an app owned by SurfEasy, which is no longer part of Opera Software."

SurfEasy was first launched back in 2011. Opera acquired SurfEasy in 2015, then added a VPN to its desktop browser the following April, and the Android app became available in August 2016.

Now it looks like SurfEasy has left Opera and has taken its mobile VPN business along with it.
