How to Easily Stop Receiving Promotional Messages with MTN Do not Disturb (DND)


Do you constantly feel irritated whenever you receive promotional messages. Indeed, messages like these can really be annoying as they tend to deluge your inbox with stuffs you are not interested. MTN Network has, however, given us a way to get rid such annoying notifications with its Do not Disturb service.

What is Do not Disturb?
Do-Not-Disturb is a service from MTN that makes it possible for its customers to opt out of receiving SMS and IVR promotional messages for 3rd Party services (Bulk SMS, promos, etc.). Moreover, the service is free.


Features of Do not Disturb
There are two main features of DND, and they are:

1. Full DND (Full Blocking Mode) - This feature enables customers to completely Opt Out from receiving promotional messages via SMS and IVR.

2. Partial DND (Partial Blocking Mode) - This feature allows customers to select which service from the categories they wish to be receiving promotional messages from. Any category not selected is blocked.

How to activate/deactivate DND
Before you activate DND it is recommended that you first find out more about the service by texting HELP to 2442.

After sending HELP to 2442, you will receive a text message detailing what you should do. After reviewing the message, decide which of the following options below you want:

To activate Full DND
In order activate Full DND so as not to receive any messages, text STOP to 2442.

To deactivate DND
If you want to opt-out of the DND service and receive all messages, text ALLOW to 2442.

To check your DND status
To check DND status, text STATUS to 2442.

To activate Partial DND
If you wish to receive messages from only the services you prefer instead all, text any of the following options to 2442:

Text 1: To receive Banking / Insurance/ Financial Products
Text 2: Real Estate
Text 3: Education
Text 4: Health
Text 5: To receive consumer goods & Automobiles
Text 6: Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT,
Text 7: Tourism & Leisure
Text 8: Sport
Text 9: Religion
Text 9a: Christianity
Text 9b: Islam
Text 9c: Others
Text 10: Information on new products/services
Text 11: News Alerts

For example, you can text 8 to 2442 to receive only Sport messages. You can add another service from list that you also wish to get messages from by texting any of the command/code to 2442.
