Posted by Chris Iteh  News just surface that the popular streaming company, Netflix, will be blocking rooted Android phones from downloading its app newest version. This means that if you’ve rooted your Android phone, you will no longer be able to download the Netflix’s app from Google Play Store. In a statement, the video streaming company confirm that “many devices that are not Google-certified or have been altered will no longer work with (their) latest app and those users will no longer see the Netflix app in the Play Store.” Netflix move may be related to the fact that their latest 5.0 app release fully relies on the Widevine Digital Rights Management (DRM) provided by Google. The purpose of the DRM is to protect media companies from piracy and rooted devices that give users control over the operating system as they have a greater possibility of breaking the protection of the DRM. Disbelief! Shock! Outrage! Those were the reactions I experienced when I checked on Glo’s data plan from my mobile phone in order to renew my exhausted plan.
