Twitter Introduces Own Emoji for Android to Deal with Missing Emoji

When using Twitter, you may at times come across little boxes with an “X” through them. This typically means someone has placed a character or emoji in a tweet that your device doesn’t recognize. This can at times be irritating. So in order deal with this, Twitter brought in its own Twemoji emoji service.

The feature is available for phones with Android 4 KitKat to 7.0 Nougat. So a lot of people with older Android can get the new emoji.

At Emojipedia, a design lead at Twitter has this to say:

“At least 50% of eligible Twitter users should now see this change, with the feature being enabled for more users over the course of this week.”
