Airtel Network have made it very easy to retrieve a lost, damaged or stolen SIM and there are two simple methods you can use to easily retrieve your airtel line. You can retrieve your SIM via:

i. SMS
ii. Airtel Self-care portal

How to retrieve your Airtel SIM via SMS

Requirements
Before you can start the retrieval process, you need to first have the following.

1. A new welcome back Airtel SIM.

2. The sim pack of the stolen or damaged SIM.

3. The SIM pack of the new welcome SIM.

4. The serial number of the lost or damaged Airtel SIM found in the SIM pack.

5. The serial number of the new Airtel SIM which can be found on the SIM pack.

6. The PUK number of the lost or damaged SIM.

7. The PUK number of the welcome back SIM.

8. The phone number you can be contacted

9. The contact number of the new SIM
.
10. The number of the lost or damaged SIM.

11. Your Name you use to register the SIM if it was registered.

12 A fully charged phone so as to avoid disruption during the retrieval process.

Note: Make sure that your new Airtel SIM has not been inserted in any phone and it must not be inserted until the retrieval process is completed.

Step 1
Send an SMS to the short code 190 using the format below:

Your name (space) your contact number (space) serial number of old sim (space) serial number of new sim (space) old sim PUK number (space) new sim PUK number (space) mobile number of the new sim

E.g Michael 08012345678 24578895577997536965 97546893124680753368  14579035 35704571 08098765432

Step 2
After 24 hours, call the Airtel customer care service to confirm the retrieval of your sim. Be sure to have all the information you sent via SMS on hand because it could come up in the conversation with the customer care for security reasons.

How to retrieve your Airtel SIM via Airtel Self-care portal

Before you can retrieve your Airtel SIM through the Airtel online self care portal you would be required to have the following.

Requirements

1. A new Airtel welcome back SIM purchased from the nearest Airtel dealer.

2. The SIM pack of the lost or damaged sim card.

3. Your last recharge amount.

4. The three most frequently called numbers.

5. The last time you recharge your lost or damaged SIM.

Step 1
Go to the Airtel self-care portal and register an account on the portal.

Step 2
Take out your new SIM and register it on the portal. Only SIMs registered in the portal can be retrieved.

Step 3
If you are registered, proceed to the portal, sign in and click on the "SIM swap" icon on the portal.

Step 4
Fill the form on the page with the necessary details such as the last amount recharged, the three frequently called numbers and how long you last recharged the lost or damaged SIM.

Step 5
After filling the form, click on submit. Once the form is submitted successfully, your old SIM will be blocked and within 24 horse, you can start using your new SIM with the old SIM's number.

The thought of getting a new SIM and starting all over again to build your contacts can be somewhat stressful and irritating.
