Now that the much-hyped Android 10 has been officially released by Google, many people would want to know if their devices is eligible to receive it.

Android 10 was released on September 3 2019. It's the first major release and 17th version of Android operating system. Unlike the previous versions, the latest update was not named after a dessert or sweet treat, ending a tradition that began in 2009. Google explains that these names were not relatable to international users (especially non-westerners) due either to the named foods not being internationally-known, or being difficult to pronounce in some languages. So the new Android OS was decided to be just named Android 10.


It is to be expected that people will be interested in Android’s latest mobile Operating System since Google promises that the upgrade of the latest version will provide a secure and satisfying experience. Moreover, Google has added great features that includes the all-new dark mode, support for foldable phones, new gesture navigation and live captions.

Google Pixel Series
Of course, what devices will be the first to receive the latest software update if not the ones owned by the company that owns Android, Google Pixels devices. Since September 3, stable Android 10 has been rolled out to all Pixel phones, that includes Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 3 XL, Google Pixel 3a, and Google Pixel 3a XL.

Essential Phone
The Essential phones from Android co-founder, Andy Rubin, was next lineup after Google Pixels series to receive the stable Android 10 update. Apart from being the first mainstream phone to have a notch, the Essential Phone has had a great track record of delivering quick software and security updates.

OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro
Like the Essential phones, OnePlus has proven to be great in terms of delivering updates. The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro was unveiled on April 2019. On the day of release, it came pre-installed with Android 9 Pie, but now it's upgradable to Android 10. So if you own either OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro, you can simply head to the blog post and copy the Android 10 ROM to your phone for a local system upgrade.

Redmi K20 Pro
Redmi K20 Pro was released along with Redmi K20 by Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi in an event held in China. Despite this, the Redmi K20 Pro is upgradable to Android 10, but currently as a closed beta. It's impressive that Redmi is able to provide an early update as it is known for taking time to deliver Android updates (because of highly customized MIUI). A new report suggests that the final update will roll out to all Redmi K20 Pro owners in October.

As mentioned above, these are phones that either run stable Android 10 or open betas based on stable Android 10. If you have any of the phones, you can upgrade to Android 10.
