There are times though when you may decide to block out certain contacts from calling you or sending you messages. You could be wondering how you can go about it. Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can easily block or unblock a contact on WhatsApp on Android.

How to block and unblock contacts on WhatsApp

Step 1 - Open WhatsApp
Tap on the WhatsApp app. It is the green icon that looks like a green speech bubble outline with a white phone inside.

Note: If you aren't signed into WhatsApp, tap AGREE AND CONTINUE and then follow the on-screen prompts to verify your WhatsApp number.

Step 2 - Open Settings
Tap on the 3 dots button in the top-right corner of the WhatsApp main screen. A drop-down menu will appear where you will find the Settings option. Tap the Settings.

Step 3 - Open Account
On the Settings page, tap on Account which is next to the top.

Step 4 - Open Privacy
On the Account page, tap on Privacy at the top of the page

Step 5 - Open Blocked contacts
Scroll down on the Privacy page and tap on Blocked contacts that is just under the "Messaging" heading.

Step 6 - Tap the "Add" icon
At the top-right corner of the blocked list, tap on the "Add" icon that resembles a person with a plus sign next to it. This will open your phone contact list.

Step 7 - Select a contact.
Now choose the contact you want to block and the person will be immediately added to your block list.

Step 8 - Block the contact

• To block someone from calling or sending you messages, tap on the chat with the person profile picture.

• Tap on the contact's name or number at the top of the chat page.

• Scroll down and tap
Block at the bottom of t page.

• Tap BLOCK when prompted.

Step 9 - Unblock the contact

• If you decide to unblock a contact, go to the Blocked contacts page and long-press on the contact's name.

• Tap Unblock name when prompted.
