YouTube is Now Rolling Out Dark Mode on its Android App

Last year, YouTube introduced a dark mode for its desktop app. Then on March this year, it started rolling out the feature on iOS mobile devices but Android users, did not receive theirs. Google, however, promised in July that YouTube for Android would soon get the new dark theme.

After months of waiting, Google is now finally rolling out the Dark Mode feature on all YouTube app for Android devices.

If you want to try out YouTube’s Dark Mode on your Android handset, then follow the instructions below.

How to enable YouTube's dark mode on your Android device
Before you begin you'll need to ensure that the YouTube app is on version 13.35 or newer for it to work.

1. Open the YouTube app and head to the settings which you will find when you click on your Profile Picture the top right corner of the application.

2. Tap on the General tab and you'll see a list of different options.

3. On the general tab, tap on the Toggle switch to enable the dark theme. When this is done, the white theme will immediately switch to dark. This theme will remain applicable even if you close and reopen the YouTube app.

Note: If you can’t find the dark theme option on your YouTube app, try removing the app from your Recents menu and relaunch it again to get it to work. If that doesn’t work, you could try updating it from Google Play.
