You can Now Backup Your WhatsApp Data to Google Drive for Free

Storage has been one of the major problems people face when using the popular messaging service, WhatsApp.

Whenever you are connected, you immediately start receiving photos and videos from your contacts that take up space on your handset. Even your conversations are automatically stored in the app.

To help users free up space on their mobile devices, WhatsApp had suggested that they backup all their conversations, photos, and videos to the Internet cloud storage, Google Drive. However, this tends to take up some space on the cloud. So Google sent out an email to WhatsApp users announcing that they can now store all their data on Google Drive for free.

The email reveals that the change is due to a new agreement with WhatsApp.

Although, the transition has already begun, it will be by November 12 that the move will be fully implemented to everyone using WhatsApp.

However, not all your backups will be saved on the cloud. Google said any packages that are more than a year old will be automatically removed. So any backup you made that haven't been restored for more than a year will get deleted. To avoid any loss of data, you should do it manually through the app settings.
