If you never like going out to buy MTN physical recharge cards for your phone then you will be interested in knowing that there is an alternative way to buy without leaving your home.
It's called MTN on Demand.
What is MTN On Demand?
MTN On Demand is a service that makes it possible for subscribers to easily purchase airtime/data without any extra charges directly from their bank accounts via a unique code at their convenience, anytime and anywhere. With this service, MTN subscribers can also recharge the phones of their friends and family. The maximum amount of purchase is N3000.
The telecom giant, MTN are partnering with a number of banks to make this service available to many people in the country. Currently, there are only seven banks in the service and only MTN subscribers who has an account with any of them can enjoy the service. But MTN has promised that more banks will soon join the platform. The banks presently in the service are:
Zenith Bank
Diamond Bank
Stanbic Bank
FCMB
Fidelity bank
First bank
Access bank
In case you have multiple of the listed bank accounts, you can decide which of the banks you want to buy airtime from.
How to buy airtime from your bank account
To access MTN on Demand and buy airtime directly, you will need to get your bank account registered by contacting your bank to do that.
You will also need a unique code that has been developed for the service. The code is *904#. Just dial *904# and follow the prompt. But for a quicker way to use the code to purchase airtime, dial *904*Amount#. For example, if you want to buy N100 airtime, dial *904*100#. To help you purchase airtime easily using this example, please follow the steps below:
Step 1
After dialing *904*100#, you will be taken to page containing the list of the banks that you bank with. Select the bank from the list where you want to be charged for airtime purchase.
Step 2
Next, you will be asked to input your account number. After inputting it, tap send.
Step 3
Finally, you will be asked to input your PIN. After doing this, you will henceforth only be required to input your PIN whenever you want to make a purchase and your mobile number will be credited.
Note: You will be asked to do this for every account you register on MTN On Demand. Also the code only works on an MTN number that is linked to your bank account with which you receive your transaction alert.
How to buy airtime for another person from your bank account
To buy airtime for another person, please follow the simple steps below:
Step 1
Dial *904*amount*phone no#. For example, if you want to make a recharge of N100 for 08012345678, then dial *904*100*08012345678#.
Step 2
Next, you will be asked to select the bank you want to be debited for the purchase.
Step 3
Finally, you will be asked to input your PIN. When you do this, the mobile number of the person you want to recharge will be credited and your bank will be debited.
How to buy data from your bank account
Apart from airtime recharge, you can also purchase data with the MTN on Demand service. Follow the simple steps below to do this:
Step 1
Dial *904*131#.
Step 2
A prompt with data will come up. Select the data you want to purchase.
Step 3
You will then be required to select the bank you want to make your purchase.
Step 4
After picking the bank you want, you will be asked to input your PIN to complete the transaction.
If your bank account was debited for an airtime/data purchase and your mobile number is not credited, contact your bank after 24 hours. For any other challenges, contact MTN customer care by dialing 180.
Remember that MTN on Demand is strictly for MTN customers who use MTN products and services. With this service, you don't need to go through the hassle of buying and scratching physical recharge cards. And you can make purchases not just for yourself, but also for your family and friends, anytime and anywhere.
