Reports has surfaced that popular photo-sharing service, Flickr, has been bought by SmugMug, another photo-sharing service.
Though it is not clear how much money SmugMug spent on Flickr, the company plans to "[breath] new life" into Flickr by pouring in the necessary resources and focus.
SmugMug CEO Don MacAskill describes Flickr an "an amazing community, full of some of the world's most passionate photographers...a fantastic product and a beloved brand, supplying tens of billions of photos to hundreds of millions of people around the world...and is core to the entire fabric of the Internet."
It also seems SmugMug wants to stand out from other services like Google Photos by focusing on its community of photographers both amateur and professional as well as its ongoing commitment to privacy.
Although, SmugMug is not entirely sure about its long-term plans for Flickr, SmugMug users need not worry for the company promise that its products aren't going anywhere.
