What is Share ‘N’ Sell?
Share ‘N’ Sell is an MTN service that makes it possible for you to share credit from your MTN account to other MTN customers’ account. With this service, you can keep your family and friends topped up and connected.
Share 'N' Sell comes with a PIN feature that protects your account so that nobody uses your phone to transfer credit without your permission. You could even use this service to make quick money by becoming a vendor, selling credit from your phone. And it is only open to all new and existing prepaid and postpaid customers on the MTN network.
The minimum amount of credit you are required to transfer is N50.00. While the maximum amount is N5, 000.00. This means that you can only transfer between N50 – N5,000 in a single transaction. Moreover, you can transfer up to N10,000 from your phone to either a single or multiple MTN accounts every day. In fact, there is no limit to the maximum number of transactions per day.
However, you can only transfer credit in Naira amounts and not in kobo. For example, you can transfer N53.00 but not N53.99.
If you don't have enough credit to cover the amount you have requested to transfer, the transaction will not be completed and you will receive an error message.
Also, you will only be able to transfer credit when your account is in positive. You will not be able to transfer credit when your account is negative (-). This means that if your account balance is N-100.00, which could be the balance you owed when you borrowed credit from ExtraTime (another MTN service), you will not be able to use Share ‘N’ Sell until you've cleared that debt. On the other hand, if your account balance is N100.00 you will be able to transfer credit up to the available N100.00 in your account.
Before you can make any transfer, however, you will have to change the default pin which is 0000.
How to Change your PIN
There are two methods you can use to change your PIN.
Method 1: You can change the default PIN by sending a text message with default PIN New PIN New PIN to 777. For example, to change the default PIN, send an SMS with ‘0000 1234 1234’ to 777.
Method 2: You can change your PIN by dialing *600*default PIN*New PIN* New PIN# on your phone and then tap ok/send. For example, dial *600*0000*1234*1234# and then tap ok/send.
When you change your PIN using any of the above methods, you will receive an SMS informing you that your PIN has been successfully changed.
How to Transfer Credit using SMS
To easily transfer credit from your phone to another MTN customer’s phone at any time, send an SMS with Transfer, Recipient’s Number, Amount and PIN to 777. For example, if you want to transfer N1000, then text ‘Transfer 08031234567 1000 1234’ to 777.
Upon sending this message, you will receive an SMS asking you to confirm that you want to make the transfer by texting 'YES' to 777.
You can also transfer credit from your phone to another MTN customer’s phone by dialing *600*Recipient’s Number*Amount*PIN# on your phone and then click on send/press ok. For example, dial *600*08031234567*1000*1234# and then send/ok.
When the transfer has been completed, you will receive a message informing you that the transfer was successful.
Note: All Share 'N' Sell transactions attracts a transfer fee, and the fee depends on the value of the transaction. The transfer fee will be deducted from your account after you agree to continue the transaction.
