How To Easily Borrow Airtime or Data From MTN XtraTime



How would you feel if while you were making an important call you were cut off because you are out of credit? You definitely would mad, right? 

However, there's a way you can work that out especially if you don't have time to go get a recharge voucher.
Most of the mobile networks in the country has a process whereby you can borrow credit to recharge your phone. One of these is XtraTime from MTN network.

MTN XtraTime is a service where  users can borrow airtime or data when their phones account balance have run too low to continue with an ongoing call or accessing the web.

Requirements for using XtraTime

>To be qualified or eligible to borrow credit from XtraTime, you need to have recharge at least N100 monthly for 3 months.

>Your SIM must be prepaid.

>Your SIM must be registered.

>Your main account balance must be between N0 and N12.

>You must have paid up any previous XtraTime request and the charges associated with it.

How to access XtraTime

To access MTN XtraTime, you need to dial *606#.

As you can see from the screenshot above, you will be able to check your eligibility status, request for Airtime (XtraTime), request for Data (XtraByte) and learn more about XtraTime by selecting “Next”. 

Now the first thing you must do is check if you are eligible to borrow credit by hitting on number 1 for eligibility status.

How to request credit from MTN XtraTime

You can ask for XtraTime credit by selecting either request for Airtime (XtraTime) or request for Data (XtraByte).

If your request for XtraTime is approved, the XtraTime credit will be loaded in a special XtraTime account. You can then use it for any MTN chargeable activity.

How to pay back XtraTime

MTN XtraTime attracts a service charge of 15% of the airtime borrowed. This means that if you requested for N100 XtraTime, N15 will be deducted, while the remaining N85 is credited to the your special XtraTime account for you to use.

Once XtraTime credit is exhausted, you will not be able to perform any other chargeable activities until the amount you borrowed from XtraTime is paid for on your next recharge.

To check your Special XtraTime account balance, dial *606# and select XtraTime Balance.
