Google Brings Gmail Go App To Android Phones With Low Memory

Google has released a lightweight version of their email client app called Gmail Go. The app is available exclusively for entry-level devices that runs on Android Go, the lighter version of the Android Oreo.

The Android Go was made available to OEMs with the release of Android 8.1 in December 2017. It has a lower-memory footprints and system requirements to make it easy to run apps on cheaper Android devices.

Gmail Go was designed for low-memory smartphones with between 512 MB and 1 GB of RAM and it has the same features as the standard Gmail app.

Like with the standard version, Gmail Go has categorized inboxes, 15 GB of cloud storage, spam filtering, and multiple account support.

The only major difference is the install size. Gmail Go only has a 9.51 MB download size and a 25 MB on-device size, while the standard version has a 20.66 MB download size and 47 MB on-device size.

Gmail Go may not seem to be an ideal choice for you if you are using a high-end smartphone since you'll just get a stripped down, less visually exciting version of the full app. Still Gmail Go do provide a faster and smoother functionality.
