In the tradition of publishing a quarterly collection of top Android apps and games, Google updated its Play Store’s Excellence portion of the Editor’s Choice section with new apps and games. The list shows the best Android experiences of the first quarter of 2018 which includes 22 new apps and 16 games.
The Excellence program was first launched back in June last year with the aim of honouring the app developers who worked tirelessly to drive innovation, quality, and polish to the Android Platform. The list is meant to showcase the very best of what Android has to offer.
According to Google, developers who want their apps to be featured in this exclusive category must follow the best practices for app development , design, usability, technical performance, localisation, and device optimisation. Google recognizes applications that went above and beyond to adopt Android latest features.
Those who do qualify enjoy a near universal use of their apps since they are position in a location where their apps can be viewed and accorded the respect it deserves. Moreover, the apps are among the best selected from Editor’s Choice which only gives it more honour.
The Android Excellence Games
This is the first section in the Android Excellence at Play Store. The games here include a wide variety of genre ranging from puzzle and action strategy to MMORPGs (Massively multiplayer online role-playing) and shooters. Top in the list is Agent A, a first-person, point-and-click adventure game. This is followed by Bit Heroes, a MMORPG game played in 8-bit & 16-bit. At the third place is 'Bloons Supermonkey 2', a game where users have to play as a Super Monkey to pop 'bloons' (balloons). The rest of the games are also good and some deserve noteworthy mentions, such as, Nintendo’s turn-based strategy RPG Fire Emblem Heroes. The game is currently the number two grossing game in the Play Store’s simulation category with a 4.6-star rating for its addictive combat and summoning mechanisms, as well as its high replay value. Another title on the roller-coaster is Lumino City which has already won a substantial number of awards for its art and gameplay mechanics. So there’s something there for pretty much everybody, making it well worth taking a look.
