Since you are using an Android, you no doubt know about Google Play Store. For the millions of Android devices users, Google Play Store is the most valuable app there is. This is because it is the one-stop shop for Android apps, games, movies, music and e-books. It also serves as the official app store for the Android operating system and comes pre-installed with Android devices.
About Google Play Store
As you may have already known, Google Play is an app store owned by Google, where Android apps, games, movies, music and ebooks can be downloaded on Android devices.
Previously, Google Play Store was known as Android Market. The Android Market handled app content, and Google Music and Google Books handled books and music. YouTube was the source for movies (and it actually still is a location for your movie rentals and purchases). For a time, the Android Market was the only Android app store. Then Amazon, Sony, Samsung, and just about every single Android device maker began offering their own app stores.
Many of the apps available on Google Play Store can be downloaded and installed for free on Android devices, while others require payments.
The services under Google Play include Google Play Games, Google Play Books, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music and Google Play Newsstand. Each has separate player apps that enable you to access your content. That means you can also view Play Music, Play Books, and Play Movies on laptops and non-Android phones.
Android apps can be found on the "apps and games" section of the Play Store. While Books, Music, and Movies are available through the "entertainment" section.
Despite its notable popularity, Google Play Store has not come without its challenges. The store has sometimes been plagued by malware attacks and Google has to keep addressing the issue by removing the offensive apps in question. And the latest Play Store app update comes with bug fixes to deal with them. Nevertheless, with over 2.7 million downloadable applications in the store and more than 50 billion downloads a year, the app store is still one of the most popular and trusted source for finding genuine apps.
