Nokia 8 Gets Android Oreo ; Nokia 6, 5, 3 And 2 To Be Next Soon

Last month, HMD Global rolls out a beta version of Android Oreo for their Nokia 8 flagship, with promise to roll out a stable release to the device before the end of this year. Sticking to that promise, the company announced that the Android 8.0 Oreo has begun rolling out for the Nokia 8 devices. Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, was the one who made the announcement in a tweet.

The roll-out of the Android update is phased over 2 days, meaning that it might take some time for it to reach all devices.

The build number for the Android update is V4.35J and is 1518.1 MB in size. According to the update changelog, the Android Oreo will also come with all its standard features including the picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, Autofill Framework, and faster boot times. Moreover, the update also brings along the November security update which could fix the nasty WiFi KRACK exploit.

Apart from the Nokia 8, other Nokia devices like the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3, as well as the entry-level Nokia 2 are also next in line to receive the Android Oreo soon though an exact timeline has not been given yet. Mr. Sarvikas also confirmed this, but in a separate tweet, adding that they will soon be added to the company’s Beta Labs program.

All in all, HMD Global has done a great job at providing timely software support to its Nokia lineup, and we really hope that they continue doing so in the future as well. What do you say?
