Beware, OnePlus Smartphones Digs Users Data Without Their Knowledge

Have you gotten a new OnePlus phone? If so you be aware that your data may be mined and sent without prompting.

It was recently discovered that OnePlus mobile phones have been digging people's data without their knowledge.
This has angered many customers and brought up the of privacy.

When questioned, OnePlus explained that the collection of information from mobile devices is enabled by default, and that users can choose to opt out of the system. The company also claimed that they do not share any of the information they collect with outside parties.

A spokesperson for the OnePlus said: “We securely transmit analytics in two different streams over HTTPS to an Amazon server. The first stream is usage analytics, which we collect in order for us to more precisely fine tune our software according to user behaviour. This transmission of usage activity can be turned off by navigating to ‘Settings’ > ‘Advanced’ > ‘Join user experience program’. The second stream is device information, which we collect to provide better after-sales support. We do not share any analytics data with outside parties.”

The code which enables this secondary data mining is a part of OnePlus Device Manager and the OnePlus Device Manager Provider. Users can stop their data being harvested by entering the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) utility of their phone and removing the apps from there.
