Do you have a problem with storage space on your phone? You can easily move your Android Apps to an SD card to save more space for other interesting appllications.
This may come as a surprise to you but many people do have problems trying to transfer files to an SD card. So I'm going to outline how it can easily be done.
As you may know, many Android phones don’t come with a big internal memory like PCs. With so many files stored in the device, there is not enough space for other apps anymore. Luckily, we can make use of a micro SD card to expand our storage space. Some of these cards can store huge files even up to 200GB.
Most devices today come with a micro SD card slot where you can insert the card to serve as what we know as the external storage. When the phone's internal storage begins to get cluttered with too many old apps, photos, videos and other stuffs, you can always move your files to the SD card. Some benefits of doing this includes:
> To make room for other apps and files that will be downloaded or added to the internal storage.
> To help your device perform faster since phones tend to act sluggishly when there's not enough internal storage space.
> To protect you from losing your data if your device eventually becomes vulnerable to viruses or other errors.
> To make it easier for you to transfer files to PC and other devices.
There other benefits which I didn't state here. Nevertheless, moving your files to an SD card is a good idea. Below are 3 simple steps you can follow to easily and manually move your Android apps to an SD card.
Moving Android Apps To The SD card
Before we begin, make sure that your Android phone has a good working SD card inserted otherwise your phone will fail to detect it. Also, be careful when transferring your apps. If not, mistaken operations will lead to data loss and you will need an Android Data Recovery to recover the deleted files which can be a hassle, especially if not done immediately.
Step 1
Head to your Android phone Settings by dragging the notification bar down and tapping on the "gear" icon. Once you are in the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the button called "Application manager" (Apps/Applications maybe).
Step 2
In the next page, you will see all the apps on your Android device. They are sorted in different categories - “All”, “Running” and “Downloaded”. On some devices, this may be “Downloaded”, “Active” and “All Apps” or "Downloaded", "Running" and "Disabled".
In the list with downloaded apps, you can see all apps that you downloaded on Google Play Store. You will also find the many default apps that the manufacturer of your device has installed on your device beforehand. Underneath each app, you can see the size of the app. Tap on the app you would like to move to SD card.
Step 3
You will next be shown information about the app, such as size of the app, data and cache. You should see a button that says "Move to SD card". Tap on this button and the selected app will automatically move to the SD card.
Congratulations, you have successfully moved your app to the SD card. Now you have enough storage space to add new apps and other files.
