You may have heard a lot about cache and the need to constantly clean it but you don't know how this is done. You are not alone. Many people who own Smartphones face similar problem. In this article, you will learn how to easily clear your phone cache yourself. But before we begin, let's briefly review what Cache is about.
About Cache
Cache is a storage space in your device where files are stored temporarily so that your device can find it quickly and help apps to load faster. When you are browsing the web, the files are stored in a memory in order that photos and videos will be able to load faster.
Just as with computers, android smartphones and tablets depends on the cache memory to run smoothly.
Though useful, the cache data can also work against your device internal storage overtime. The memory can become so cluttered with old apps, photos, files and other garbage that your device might not respond as smoothly as it used to, or perhaps not respond at all.
To solve this issue so that your phone can work faster and smoothly, you will need to clear the cache data. Below are simple
steps to take to do it.
How to Clear App Cache
Step 1
Head to your Android phone Settings by dragging the notification bar down and tapping on the "gear" icon. Once you are in the Settings menu, scroll down until you find the button called "Application manager" (Apps/Applications maybe).
Step 2
In the next page, you will see all the apps on your Android device. They are sorted in different categories - “All”, “Running” and “Downloaded”. On some devices, this may be “Downloaded”, “Active” and “All Apps” or "Downloaded", "Running" and "Disabled". Move to the "Downloaded" section as this contains all the apps downloaded on your device.
Underneath each app, you can see the size of the app. Tap on any of the apps.
Step 3
The app you select will open to a page where you can view all the information about it. Here you should be able to see the buttons "Clear Cache" and “Cached data”.
If you choose the “Clear Cache” option, you will delete all the information and files in the app. But if pick the “Clear Data” option, you will delete all personal data in the app. This includes login details, settings, as well as games scores. You should always use the “Clear Cache” option first if you aren't too keen to delete all your personal files. Tap on it and hit the “OK” button that comes up. If your phone still fails to function properly, then try to use the “Clear Data” option.
After performing these tasks, your phone should be able to run smoothly and the app itself should function as if it is newly downloaded.
If you don't want to go through the hassle of cleaning your cache yourself there are some apps you can find in Google play Store that can help you easily do it. Two of such that I'll recommend is CCleaner and Greenify. I suggest that you download both as work better together.
Hope this helps. You can share it with your family and friends through Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Google+ and other social media.
